Home Tour: Solid Hardwood Bamboo Flooring Throughout Beautiful New Jersey Home

September 21, 2020 By Ben Leave a Comment

This Home Tour by Rooms Solutions is an all-rounder and the solid hardwood bamboo flooring .

There isn’t one aspect that we don’t love and we’re confident you will love it too…

Zenia is the owner of the Instagram account @styleitprettyhome – dedicated to showing off her fantastic New Jersey colonial home which was built in 1875 and is styled with a collection of dark, mid and light furniture and accessories.

You’ll see gold pendant lighting, gallery wall with art that lines the stairway and large bedrooms with gorgeous ornate rugs.

It’s a big house.

But it manages to maintain an earthy and comfortable atmosphere that’s inviting for everyone to come back to.

If you’re someone who’s looking to add dark hues to your home then you’re going love Zenia’s home.

It’s a perfect example of using richer colors and avoiding any oppressive vibes which can often be a problem for beginners.

Excited?

Great

Without further ado, let’s get into the Home Tour.

Q&A With Zenia

living room

The wood flooring in the ‘pass through’, living room, kitchen & dining room is very striking – did you source it yourself and can you share some details on it?

The Wood floors throughout our house are Bamboo floors.

I actually didn’t have the pleasure of choosing these floors they were already in the house when we bought it.

Dark kitchen with gold pendant lights

Love the gorgeous gallery wall on the staircase. Where do you buy your art and do you have any tips for creating a gallery wall?

I buy my art from thrift stores, Etsy, and I am an artist myself!

Some tips:

  • Coming up with a color scheme and creating uniformity through that
  • Grouping art according to size this helps balance out the large scale art to the smaller scale art (IMO)
  • Build your gallery wall around a large central piece
  • Don’t be afraid to vary your frame finishes- mix it up! (if you want)
  • If a freeform/eclectic gallery wall is to scary to start with, start with an organized grid style gallery wall. Just make sure to get that spacing just right!
  • Gallery Walls Can be in any number grouping, from 2 to 100, Just make sure the visual weight is balanced (don’t have too many small pieces and just a few large ones balance it out)

There’s something special about Wishbone Chairs, do your furniture preferences gravitate towards famous designs or hidden gems?

I’m a hidden gems type of girl! I don’t look at labels.

I’m always looking for something unique and interesting!

Your home feels vibrant, it feels alive – what’s the most important element that brings that sense of cozy energy

Textiles! I love how throw pillows, throws and rugs add so much character and personality and are so easy to interchange!

Layering these elements creates that cozy factor.

What advice do you have for those who are still trying to find their own style?

Don’t feel like you have to find “one” style.

Mix and match the things you love and create your own unique combination of styles – make sure to balance the elements though – that’s what will make your space cohesive!
